What's ZEPHANIAH about?
Summary
Zephaniah was likely written just before the Babylonians captured Jerusalem and is a warning about not abandoning justice, as the northern part of the country had 50 years earlier. That earlier abandonment had resulted in the Assyrians capturing the northern part of the country and Zephaniah warns that the same will happen to Jerusalem in the southern half if the people and their kings don't change their ways.
How Zephaniah is important to us
The book challenges us to view international events of our time from the perspective of justice rather than from the perspective of pure power struggles.
