Psalm 55
I am terrified at what is happening. The city is full of corruption and my dear familiar friend has betrayed me. I will not cease imploring God to intervene and put things right.

Appropriate for a Saturday, when Jesus, betrayed by friends, waits in silence in the grave.

Ecclesiastes 5.8-20                           What’s Ecclesiastes about?
Rich people are often miserable, but they should enjoy their wealth because that way they do not notice their lives are pointless!

Matthew 15.1-20                           What’s Matthew about?
Jesus is powerful over storms and over sinking. Trusting in the power of God’s resurrection in Jesus is what keeps us afloat in life—when we try to rely only on our own small abilities we are liable to sink.

This week’s collect:

Lord God of the nations,
you have revealed your will to all people
and promised us your saving help.
May we hear and do what you command,
that the darkness may be overcome
by the power of your light;
through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.
